The Bach Collegium San Diego will present two performances of J. S. Bach’s B-minor Mass at St. James-by-the-Sea Episcopal Church in La Jolla. The performances will be on Sunday, June 8 at 4 p.m. and on Monday, June 9 at 7 p.m.
The Collegium’s performances will employ period instruments and chorus and soloists who specialize in the performance of Baroque music, all led by Ruben Valenzuela, music director of the Collegium.
Vocal soloists will be Anne-Marie Dicce, soprano; Angela Young Smucker, alto; Vladimir Maric, tenor; and John Polhamus, bass.
Tickets are $60 reserved seating and $25 general admission (students $12), and are available in advance for either performance at (619) 341-1726 or at the door.
For those who would like to hear an advance lecture, Valenzuela will present “Bach’s B-Minor Mass: Its Art and Theology” at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 334 14th St. in Del Mar, at 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 1.
