A knight of stand-up comedy coming

The Comedy Store

on Pearl Street in La Jolla will present “A Knight of Stand-Up Comedy” to benefit

Moores UCSD Cancer Center

on July 22. Doors open at 7 p.m.; the show starts at 8 p.m.

The show will feature performances by some of The Comedy Store’s brightest talents from here and L.A. — including San Diego comedians Mike Vinn, Jesse Egan, Taylor Williamson, Ray Andersen, Mal Hall, and a special appearance by Vicki Barbolek, winner of Nick at Night’s “Funniest Mom Contest.”

More than a dozen comedians will donate their time to make patrons laugh for this cause. Schedule permitting, the film’s writer/director and stand-up comic J.D. Shapiro plans to perform. Shapiro wrote “Robin Hood; Men in Tights,” and wrote and directed “We Married Margo.”

The show will run approximately 90 minutes. A silent auction will follow with lots of prizes to bid on, including an autographed “The Incredible Hulk” poster donated by the legendary Stan Lee. Lee and Shapiro are presently co-creating a new superhero series together.

All proceeds will be donated. There is a two-drink minimum.
