13 agencies to benefit from Liquid Nation Ball
The Surf Industry Manufacturers Association (SIMA) Humanitarian Fund named the 13 surf-related humanitarian organizations selected to benefit from the Liquid Nation Ball 7 to be held at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 14 at the oceanfront home of Fernando Aguerre in La Jolla,
The fund’s board of directors hopes to raise $250,000 at the ball to be shared among Keep a Breast, Boarding for Breast Cancer, Surfer’s Healing, Jimmy Miller Foundation, AccesSurf Hawaii, Mauli Ola Foundation, Best Day Foundation, Outdoor Outreach, Stoked Mentoring, Life Rolls On, Project Wipeout, Surf Aid International, and the Sumba Foundation.
The Liquid Nation Ball was created by Santiago and Fernando Aguerre to support the humanitarian efforts of SurfAid. In 2006, the brothers donated the ball to the SIMA Humanitarian Fund, a 501(c)(3) charitable foundation. Since 2004, Liquid Nation Ball has raised more than $1.25 million for surf-related, non-profit humanitarian organizations.
Ball tickets are $300 per person at www.liquid-nation.com. Just 375 tickets will be sold. The event will include dancing, live music, food, open bar, and a live auction of one-of-a-kind items.
The evening will also honor Grammy Award winner Jason Mraz as the 2010 SIMA Humanitarian of the Year for his work with Life Rolls On and other non-profit organizations.
