Date of first match: Season underway

Championship finals: Nov. 1 and 3 or Nov. 2 and 4

Defending champions: Division I — Torrey Pines; Division II — Mater Dei Catholic

Season outlook: Sophomore Lucy Yuan of The Bishop’s School in La Jolla returns as the defending section champion. Last season, she became the fourth freshman in six years to win the championship.

Also coming off a stellar freshman year is section runner-up Anna Davis of Steele Canyon, who won the Junior PGA championship in late July. El Camino senior Jasmine Leovao can complete a sweep of qualifying for the prep Southern California regional tournament each of her four seasons. She won the SoCal title two years ago. Her twin sister, Janae, is going for her third straight regional berth.

In team competition, Torrey Pines looks to add to its rich golf history after taking the overall section championship last season for the first time since 2015. Seniors Kelsie Park and Muzi Wei help spearhead Torrey Pines.

Mater Dei Catholic figures to contend for its third overall title in four years. The Crusaders finished as the overall runner-up last season.

The girls season returns to the fall after being delayed to spring last school year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
