Construction worker injured on Torrey Pines Road
A worker at a house under construction in La Jolla was rescued after falling down a 30-foot opening the afternoon of April 25. A crew from San Diego Fire-Rescue Department worked with a life-pulley system that uses the aerial ladder on the fire truck to get the worker out of the tight spot at the site on Coast Walk west of Torrey Pines Road near La Jolla Bay at about 6:30 p.m.
The worker was taken to a hospital for treatment. Information about his injuries was not available.
Abandoned boat found on La Jolla Shores beach
A small boat was found by lifeguards in the water just off La Jolla Shores, the morning of April 26, and federal officials later took possession of the vessel, said San Diego Fire-Rescue spokesman José Ysea. He added that someone spotted the boat just off the sand near lifeguard Tower 33 in La Jolla Shores around 6 a.m.
Lifeguards pulled the boat onto the sand and notified federal officials. Nothing could be seen inside the vessel, he said: “Nobody was around, no people were around, they just found it abandoned.”
Lifeguards said the boat had about 15 gallons of fuel.
Agents with Customs and Border Protection’s Air and Marine Operations unit took custody of the boat and a boat-towing contractor pulled the boat out into the ocean to tow it to Mission Bay.
This is at least the second abandoned boat found at a San Diego beach this week. A panga carrying six life jackets was found ditched on a Sunset Cliffs beach early Monday morning.
