La Jolla Country Day baseball season comes to a close

The Torreys left it all on the field last weekend as they fell short, 6-5, against Mater Dei in CIF play.

The team advanced to that game after beating Calvary Christian, 18-3, in a game where they got a combination of dominant pitching and hitting, scoring 15 runs in the first two innings.

As you might expect with that score, a number of players had great offensive nights, including Austin Rook (two doubles and four RBI), Anthony Torres (two hits and four RBI), Connor Gerhart (two hits and three RBI), Tommy Edman (two hits, four runs), Jason Gilberg (three runs) and Frankie Brown and Sam Ayala each who had two hits. In total, 11 Torreys had hits against Calvary.
