The International Yellowtail Derby is returning after a 36-year hiatus. The derby starts on Sept. 26 with winners being announced on Oct. 4 after eight days of fishing. Cash prizes of $50,000 will be awarded if 2,000 people enter, organizers said in a news release.
Open party and sportboat categories, with teams of two to six anglers, will compete in the event that ran from 1946 to 1973 before disappearing from the local sportfishing scene.
