The seventh- and eighth-grade girls of All Hallows Academy's soccer team recently clinched the 2009 Parochial Schools Soccer Championship. A total of 16 parochial schools within San Diego County participated in league play.
The All Hallows girls went undefeated in league play, with 27 goals and giving up only four during that time. All Hallows Academy played its cross-town rivals, Stella Maris, in the quarterfinals, pulling out a 5-0 win before defeating Our Lady of Grace, 1-0, in the semifinals.
The championship game pitted All Hallows against School of the Madeline.
The game ended at 0-0 after regulation time and ultimately was decided by penalty kicks in favor of All Hallows Academy, 1-0. All Hallows didn't give up a single goal during the playoffs. Coach Robert Caietti ended nine years of coaching with the victory.
He said many of the eighth-graders have played every season since kindergarten.
