Bird Rock Elementary students Tanner Kelly and Conner Noon are members of the San Diego Mite Oilers ice hockey team that recently won a bronze medal in the California State Games that were played in San Diego.
Coached by Mike Kelly, top center, the team had a record of 20-2-2 as of late last week after a loss to the Dallas Penguins - the No. 1-ranked team in the country.
Tanner led the team in points for the tournament, and Conner was second. Their team played in tournaments in Anaheim, Escondido, Arizona and Lake Tahoe this year and took first in all of them.
