Expect a crisp start to autumn Friday across San Diego County

Autumn will get off to a cool start Friday in San Diego County, especially across inland valleys where daytime highs are expected to be 10 degrees or more below seasonal averages.

The National Weather Service says the high in such communities as Escondido will be in the low 70s instead of mid 80s. Temperatures also will be in the low 70s at and near the coast.

“A low pressure system will create a very deep marine layer that will keep things cool,” said Brandt Maxwell, a weather service forecast.

The autumnal equinox will occur at 1:02 p.m.
