Have you ever been to a store when a person in front of you used a lot of plastic bags? You might not think how much that is polluting but you should be aware. I think stores should stop using plastic bags for bagging the customers' items. There should be a law in San Diego that plastic bags be banned and people should use strong reusable bags found at your local grocery store or other stores.
If plastic bags are banned, lots of oil can be saved; for example, 1 ton of plastic bags takes 11 barrels to produce. I understand that plastic bags are used because they are free to the customers and easier to bag. However, lots of oil is still being used.
Plastic bags can be burned and release PVC (a toxic chemical to the human body). And it takes hundreds of years to decompose. According to the EPA, in 2000, only 1 percent of plastic bags made were recycled that year.
In conclusion, someone should bring up to the City Council about banning plastic bags in San Diego and everybody should use reusable bags.

Driving and texting unsafe
Driving and texting don't mix. Many accidents today, resulting in serious injury and even death, can be attributed to nonattentive drivers using cell phones or other devices while operating motor vehicles. This practice is extremely dangerous. Some studies suggest that texting, talking or e-mailing is as dangerous as drinking and driving. Until law enforcement agencies and the society at large consider this an epidemic threat to public safety, many more lives will be affected. Here is a message for the people who are paying more attention to their cell phones than driving: "Omg r u dead yet?"

Lobbying a bad thing
Health care is a big factor in everyday life, but which representatives really believe in it and which are getting lobbied? Through the health care debate, $400 million has been spent lobbying, enough money for 30,000 families to have health care for a year. To me lobbying is a bad thing, especially because (the health care debate) has the record for the most money spent lobbying in U.S. history. All 100 senators and 435 House of Representatives are being lobbied each day. If I was allowed to vote, I would fill in the bubble for lobbying being illegal.
