The Jeffrey B. Graham Perspectives on Ocean Science Lecture Series kicks off March 8 at Birch Aquarium, featuring presentations on research conducted by scientists from Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UCSD.
All presentations run from 6:30 to 8 p.m. and are open to the public. Tickets are $8 per program for the public and $5 for students and educators.
At the opening event, three students will talk about their discoveries and share their visions for the futures of their disciplines in a talk titled "The Future Stewards of Our Planet."
The series continues on April 12 with Scripps geochemist Devendra Lala talking about "Solar Activity During the Last Millennium."
On May 10, the first Keeling Lecture will feature Steve Running, director of the Numerical Terradynamic Simulation Group, Department of Ecosystem Sciences, University of Montana. He will talk about "Climate Change and the Forests of the West."
This lecture is in memory of distinguished Scripps Oceanography professor Charles David Keeling's life and invaluable contributions to climate science and Scripps.
