For the first time since it opened 11 years ago, there will now be valet parking available from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sundays at the La Jolla Open Aire Market.

"There will be no more driving in circles around the block looking for a parking space," said Darcy Young, market manager. "People will pay $5 to have their cars valet parked. It will be easier for them to get all their produce and stuff right into the car. We'll help load it up."

Started 11 years ago with 14 vendors, Open Aire - held weekly at La Jolla Elementary School, 1111 Marine St. - has grown to become the largest farmers market in San Diego. More than 75 artisans, a multitude of farmers and a food court are available at the market, which includes everything from French table linens to teak furniture, jewelry, clothing, paintings and photography, toys and cosmetics.

Market organizers have also designated the third Sunday of every month as "family fun day."

Young said, "It's geared toward school-age children with some free activities for them, starting Feb. 21st doing cookie decorating."

"You get a lot of bang for your buck," said Sherry Ahern, who founded the market as a fundraiser to support La Jolla Elementary School. "It's a great place to gather, get small-ticket items, grab breakfast or lunch, enjoy themselves, see their neighbors and listen to live music. It's a real family outing."

Young added that the produce sold is locally grown.

"None of it's imported," she said. "You just can't get any fresher than that."
