After the aging equipment was removed a year ago by city officials, the La Jolla Shores Association and Friends of La Jolla Shores agreed they couldn't wait for the city to replace it. So, under the guidance of Mary Coakley, they launched a fundraising campaign, worked with the city to get the necessary approvals and started work today.
The volunteers will be at the park through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. -- or sooner if they finish working on the project.
