Serious injury collision with pedestrian

The San Diego Police Department (SDPD) reported a serious injury accident occurring at Genesee Avenue and La Jolla Village Drive at 6:06 a.m. Friday.

A 70-year-old man was walking against the red light from the north side of La Jolla Village Drive to the south side, near Genesee Avenue.

A 1983 Toyota sedan being driven by a 61-year-old female was westbound La Jolla Village Drive with the green traffic signal as the pedestrian stepped out in front of the car. She was unable to stop in time, and struck the male, fracturing his left leg.

He was transported by medics to an area hospital for his non-life threatening injuries. The SDPD Traffic Unit is handling the investigation.
