Authorities sought today to identify a woman found dead at the base of Sunset Cliffs over the weekend.
A passer-by spotted the body while walking near the terminus of Carmelo Street shortly after 1:30 p.m. Sunday, the county Medical Examiner's Office reported.
The woman apparently had fallen to her death from one of the oceanfront bluffs in the scenic area south of Ocean Beach, according to San Diego lifeguard Lt. Andy Lerum.
The woman, who appeared to have been in her late 20s or early to mid- 30s, was about 5-foot-1 and weighed 125 pounds, with greenish-hazel eyes, shoulder-length brown hair and freckles on her face, coroner's officials said.
She was wearing blue denim pants, a brown short-sleeved shirt, a hooded white Roxy-brand sweat shirt and gray/neon-yellow Saucony sneakers.
