Fatal collision closes portion of Linda Vista Road
Jul 16, 2008 - La Jolla Light
The San Diego Police Department advises that Linda Vista Road between Tait and Glidden was closed until approximately 11:30 a.m. due to a major injury collision. Motorists are advised to use Burton Street instead of Linda Vista Road.
According to police reports, at 7:36 a.m. today, a 57-year-old male motorcyclist riding a 2006 KTM motorcycle was southbound at 6700 Linda Vista Road.
He struck the side of a 2006 Toyota Corolla driven by a 20-year-old female that is seven months pregnant.
The Toyota was occupied by 3 children: a 9-year-old boy, a 6 year old girl, a 5-year-old boy and a 76-year-old woman.
The motorcyclist was transported to an area hospital with severe injuries and was later pronounced dead. The others were all transported to the hospital for minor bumps and scrapes.
It appears the motorcycle was proceeding through the intersection with the green light, when the Toyota did not stop for the red light, and the motorcyclist collided into the driver's side rear door area.
