have risen nine straight months in a row – a trend that indicates a welcomed rebound in local real estate. With increasing inventory and historically low interest rates, sellers and buyers alike are taking advantage of the area’s prime market.
The positive sentiments follow on the heels of a recent report from the S&P/Case-Shiller Home Price index which tracks real estate throughout 20 major metropolitans in the nation. The report ranked San Diego as the second best market for increasing real estate values thanks to nine straight months of home price growth.
San Diego saw a 1.3 percent gain in home values from September to October. Compared to the previous year, home prices in San Diego surged 6 percent year-over-year – the biggest gain of its kind in seven years.
“Looking over this report, and considering other data on housing starts and sales, it is clear that the housing recovery is gathering strength," said David M. Blitzer, chair of the index committee at S&P Dow Jones Indices.
