A youth fencing coach pleaded guilty Sept. 13  to multiple felony charges for having separate sexual relationships with two girls over the past 10 years.

Vijay Prasad, 51, will be sentenced to five years in state prison at a hearing Nov. 16.

The defendant pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a girl between 2005 and 2007 starting when she was 14 and admitted sexually assaulting another underage girl 10 years ago, said Deputy District Attorney Elizabeth McClutchey.

Prasad, of Carmel Valley, pleaded guilty to five charges, including committing a lewd act on a child, oral copulation on a minor, sexual penetration with a foreign object and admitted an allegation of substantial sexual conduct.

It was unclear if the defendant coached either of the victims.

Prasad was the after-school fencing coach at

La Jolla Country Day School

and also coached fencing through the recreation department at

UC San Diego

.

He was charged in February with 13 counts, including sodomy of a person under 16 by a person over 21 and committing a lewd act on a child 14 or 15 years of age. Prosecutors filed charges in the older case last month.
