The City Council on Tuesday unanimously approved a one year, almost $558,000 contract to survey the condition of all of the streets and alleys in San Diego.
The city has surveyed the condition of some roadways in the past, but there has never been a complete study of all 2,774 miles of streets and 271 miles of alleys at once.
Since the rainstorms hit in the second half of last month, San Diego's streets have been strewn with potholes. The city's Street Division will use the survey by Mission Geographic to update its database, which will be used to prioritize and schedule future resurfacing projects.
