Kudos go to Cups La Jolla, La Jolla’s cupcake lounge and cooking school, for the “edible” planters it has in front of its store at 7857 Girard Ave. Lounge manager Ashley Williams said the planters abound with rosemary and edible orchids. Kassir limes in boxes round out the plantings. “The edible orchids are officially called microorchids,” said Williams. “We use them for garnish for special orders.” They’re one of several La Jolla eateries brightening up the Jewel with the "green" benefit of putting their plantings to good use.
