Jewish Community Foundation of San Diego Welcomes Three New Board Members

Marc Channick, Luis Maizel and Brian Miller have been elected to the board of the Jewish Community Foundation.

Channick, a La Jolla resident and San Diego native, is a founding partner at Delphi Private Advisors. A 1994 graduate of Harvard Law School, Marc practiced law for a decade in both the private and public sectors before moving into the investment field.

He serves on the finance and investment committees of the Jewish Community Foundation and on the investment committee of the Senior Community Centers and is a member of the Board of Directors at Jewish Family Service, where he also sits on the investment committee.

Miller, also a La Jollan, is president of Geppetto’s Inc., a chain of specialty children’s toy stores. After working for many years at the corporate management level for chain store retailers, he returned to San Diego to take over his family’s retail business. He has served on both the finance and strategies committees of the Jewish Community Foundation and on the Board of the Jewish Federation of San Diego County.  He currently serves as a member of the Boards of Words Alive Literacy Program and the Good Toy Group.

Maizel is president of LM Advisors, Inc. and the senior managing director of LM Capital Group, the largest Hispanic money manager in the United States. He sits on various other public and private boards of directors including Vibra Bank, Comexhidro and Minera del Pitic. He has lectured at Harvard University, where he was a faculty member, and is regularly invited to speak to students at the graduate schools in the University of California system.

He has served on many nonprofit boards including the AMI Montessori and the Ken Jewish Community. He currently is a trustee of the University of San Diego where he chairs the investment committee and also serves on the investment committee of the Jewish Community Foundation.
