Among the crowd at UCSD’s Founder’s Day ceremony on Nov. 18 were the earliest graduate, the families of the late Roger Revelle, who founded the campus, and of the late Herbert York who was the founding chancellor. Also on hand were Mayor Jerry Sanders and current Chancellor Marye Anne Fox, just back from receiving the National Medal of Science at the White House.

The day’s festivities attracted about 1,200 for the formal program and about 2,000 or so students when the group Far East Movement started performing. The event included speeches, dancing and other performances. Events were continuing throughout the weekend.
