The unemployment rate in San Diego County dropped in October to 10.2 percent, down from 10.7 percent the previous month, the California Employment Development Department reported Friday.
Between September and October, 5,400 jobs were added in San Diego County, but the region is still down 1,400 jobs from the same time last year, according to the EDD.
About 6,900 government jobs were added between September and October, while 3,400 jobs were lost in the leisure and hospitality sector.
California's unemployment rate was unchanged at 12.4 percent in October, but 39,000 jobs were added in the state over the month, according to the EDD. California's unemployment rate has held steady since August.
The national jobless rate was also unchanged at 9.6 percent in October, according to the EDD.
