[gallery]On Election Day, third-, fourth- and fifth grade seminar classes at La Jolla Elementary School got a personal lesson on politics when San Diego City Councilwoman Sherri Lightner came to speak with them about city politics and what kind of issues are brought before the city council.

After the visit, Michael Naylor's fourth graders held their own mock city council meeting with a familiar issue before them — what to do about the seals at Children's Pool. Students took on roles of city council members, a city clerk and San Diego citizens who spoke passionately during the public comment portion of the meeting.
