The San Diego Science Festival and Agilent Technologies, a major sponsor of the Festival, were recently recognized for their efforts to increase student interest and achievement in science education by President Obama’s nationwide “Change the Equation (CTEq)” initiative, which seeks to improve science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education in the United States.

Established in 2009, the San Diego Science Festival’s mission is to focus awareness on the importance of STEM education among San Diego’s youth, and to inspire them to pursue careers in these rewarding fields. Organized by UCSD and community collaborators, the Festival is the largest celebration of science on the West Coast. The 2011 Science Festival will take place March 19-26, offering engaging, hands-on science activities and demonstrations to excite the minds of students, families and members of the community.
