Lori Bell will present “From Bach to Bebop” a free concert, beginning at 4 p.m. Nov. 7 at Greene Music, 7480 Miramar Road.
This accomplished flutist, composer and recording artist will engage with her versatile sense of musicianship. She has been acclaimed as “one of the finest virtuoso flutists of our time” by the Latin Jazz Network and was also nominated for several Grammys including: Best New Artist, Best Instrumental Composition, Best Instrumental Arrangement, Best Jazz Instrumental Solo, and Best Contemporary Jazz Album.
Bell has recorded several albums featuring original compositions and has also recorded with the Dave Mackay Trio. These albums have received high commendations from Billboard Magazine, the LA Times and the Jazz Times.
Bell has 20 years of experience teaching worldwide. Currently, she is Professor of Flute at San Diego State University where she teaches classical technique and jazz improvisation. In addition to teaching, Bell has performed at venues such as The Neurosciences Institute, Wadsworth Theater, and the Kennedy Center.
