Jim Alcorn of Alcorn & Benton architects in La Jolla has begun making the rounds of local community planning groups discussing future plans for The Heritage, a condo redevelopment planned for nearly three quarters of an acre at 7720 Ivanhoe Ave. owned by Copley Press in La Jolla Village.
“It’s one of the last assets since the newspaper was sold along with the property on Country Club Drive, and the family wants to dispossess themselves of all of their assets,” Alcorn told La Jolla’s Development Permit Review committee last week. He noted The Heritage currently consists of a group of cottages, one of which is considered historical.
Noting present zoning would allow 32 development units on the parcel, Alcorn said plans presently are to redevelop to have 7 units served by underground parking.
He added plans for the project, still in the preliminary stages, call for starting out with rental units followed later by a condo conversion once a Coastal Development Permit with a rental agreement are secured.
