At least one parent representing all La Jolla Elementary School students - new or returning - must attend one of the two sign-up days on Aug. 31 and Sept. 1, according to a PTO representative Sharon Jones.
On Aug. 31, the sign-ups will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; on Sept. 1, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Parents must hand in proof of residency and fill out enrollment cards, district papers, school directory form and disaster preparedness forms.
They'll also be able to meet vendors who offer before- and after-school programs, sign up and pay for those programs or for Wednesday after-school classes. It's also a chance to sign up and pay for before- and after-school care and to become a member of the PTO.
Anyone interested in volunteering in the classroom will have to take a TB test and fill out background check applications.
In addition, there will be opportunities to buy tickets for the Family Picnic and to make a donation to the Annual Giving Campaign of Friends of La Jolla Elementary, which pays for music, art, technology, librarian and more, Jones noted.
