Photos: Social Service League of La Jolla hosts a White Christmas Cabaret 2016

The Social Service League of La Jolla held its annual winter fundraiser, White Christmas Cabaret, Dec. 3, 2016 at the Darlington House. The festivities included cocktails, dinner, music, a silent auction and raffle with proceeds going to support the League’s mission to maintain and improve League House’s welcoming atmosphere for the seniors who reside there.

Founded in 1929, the Social Service League of La Jolla grew out of the needs of the Great Depression. It was incorporated in 1947 as a non-profit public benefit (501c3) corporation. It is dedicated to providing affordable housing at League House for those who have lived and worked in the San Diego area and who cannot otherwise afford decent housing after retirement.

Darlington House was purchased by Social Service League of La Jolla in 1968 from the estate of Mrs. Sybil Darlington. In addition to the beautiful home, the sale provided property to further expand League House next door. League House is dedicated to providing low income housing for seniors who have lived and worked in the San Diego area, who after retirement, cannot otherwise provide their own affordable housing. The Social Service League has been assisting seniors with affordable housing for more than 60 years by providing low income seniors independent, private apartments in a community living environment with on-site manager, central dining area, lounge and activities. leaguehouselajolla.com
