The crowd of more than 170 gathered on a warm Saturday evening for Neurosciences Institute's Minding the Arts delighted to the sounds of The Hutchins Consort, with their unique octet of string instruments; the mixed harmonies of The NOTEables; and the RB Swingtet, performing for the first time at the institute.
Starting with an outdoor cocktail reception, the event raised nearly $90,000 for the institute's performing arts program, in which the auditorium is made available at no-charge to local nonprofit arts and educational organizations. Guests were treated to a tasty selection of food and beverages from San Diego's finest.
Sponsors included Audrey Geisel/The San Diego Foundation, Dr. Seuss Fund, Mandell Weiss Charitable Trust, In to Ink Fine Printing, Indian Fine Arts Academy of San Diego, Merck Research Laboratories-West Coast and the Laba Foundation.
