"Reclaiming Youth; Restoring Hope" has long been the tagline found on New Haven stationery and business cards. Providing hope to youths with troubled lives is its greatest challenge.

Since 1967, New Haven has served youths referred through the Departments of Social Services, Special Education, Mental Health and Probation Systems and is contracted with 50 school districts throughout Southern California. Effectively working with at-risk youths and their families, New Haven now operates 12 residential facilities located throughout Vista, San Marcos and Oceanside. New Haven is a community-based nonprofit social service agency providing residential treatment, educational and vocational services and clinical intervention.

New Haven provides a safe, supportive, structured home living environment where adolescent boys with special needs are valued and given hope for a better future. The special education program works to engage and instruct youths who have been unsuccessful in public school due to behavioral, mental health, substance abuse, learning disabilities and/or truancy problems. New Haven also features a comprehensive vocational training curriculum, focusing on building trades with an emphasis on sustainable "green" construction and alternative energy. There is a fully equipped woodshop offering advanced furniture and cabinetry craftsmanship. New Haven is a national Youth Build affiliate.
