Guests encouraged to 'Think, Play, Create'
The New Children's Museum welcomed many young-at-heart guests at its inaugural party, "Think, Play, Create: The Gala." This not-so-traditional event invited guests to free their inner child.
The night kicked off with a cocktail hour where bartenders served up Pop Rocks martinis while guests sampled mini peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, French fries and bite-sized cheeseburgers. The night also included a relay race.
For dinner, guests dined on several child favorites such as mac 'n' cheese and Salisbury steak with mashed potatoes - all prepared with a gourmet flair.
A live auction followed dinner, along with the highlight of the evening - a live performance by 1980s pop icons Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo.
Proceeds from the gala will help launch the Museum's 2009 exhibition centered on the interaction between human and animal worlds as well as support art education programs across San Diego County.
