Non-Profit Advocacy Organization Works to Secure Funding
Community leaders in the legislative, business, medical, education and research fields will convene at the San Diego Research Breakfast fund-raiser to support the work of the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) from 7 to 8:30 a.m. Aug. 1 at the Salk Institute.
Cancer research has offered hope to millions of people by identifying and developing new prevention and early detection methods, more effective treatments, and improved quality of life. Supporters of ACS CAN work to secure increased federal funding and to support public policies so that critical cancer research can continue.
Keynote speakers for the event are John Reed, PhD, president and CEO of Burnham Institute for Medical Research; and Joseph D. Panetta, president and CEO of BIOCOM. The breakfast will be from 7 to 8:30 a.m., Friday, August 1, at the Salk Institute in La Jolla.
The ACS CAN is a national, not-for-profit and non-partisan sister advocacy organization of the American Cancer Society dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives and diminishing suffering from cancer through voter education and issue campaigns.
