Sunday’s La Jolla Christmas Parade is ready to roll

The La Jolla parade, “Christmas in the Village,” is back for the 55th year to ring in the holiday season for residents and visitors alike, beginning at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2 down Girard Avenue.

The latest public art work in the Murals of La Jolla art series was installed on Nov. 13 at 7744 Fay Ave. Titled “Applied,” by artist Richard Allen Morris, it is the eighth in the series being funded by the La Jolla Community Foundation.

New restaurant Ohana Café bids ‘Aloha!’ to La Jolla

The owners of the new Ohana Café want to say “Aloha, La Jolla!” with their blend of Hawaiian BBQ and Pacific-fusion dishes. The Ohana (“family” in Hawaiian) Café is the tasty result of a collaborative inspiration between Larry Chou and Becky Kuba.

La Jolla has a new, very fashionable neighbor. Kate Spade New York opened its doors Sept. 28, with a grand opening party on Oct. 4. Located at 7931 Girard Ave., the store sells luxury apparel, small leather goods, accessories and shoes.

‘Bike for Self Confidence’ event to raise funds for La Jolla children in distress

Organizers describe the inaugural Bike for Self Confidence fundraiser, 9 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 14 at Ellen Browning Scripps Park, 1133 Coast Blvd., as “the ride of your life” down Mount Soledad.

A benefits for Childrens Smiles, funds raised will be used to help build the confidence of children who have been abused or experienced a traumatic event. In this case, a 4-year- old girl named Ciara.
