UC San Diego held its inaugural Breakfast with Champions fundraiser for prostate cancer research Feb. 22, 2013 at La Jolla Country Club. The event featured Pro Football Hall of Famer and prostate cancer survivor Mike Haynes, who discussed his experiences as a champion, both on and off the field. Haynes played for the New England Patriots from 1976-1982 and Los Angeles Raiders from 1983-1989. Proceeds from the breakfast will benefit prostate cancer research at the UCSD School of Medicine.
