Effective pitching, timely hitting and good defense allowed the La Jolla Country Day School Torreys to beat The Rock Academy Warriors, 2-0, in a baseball game at Country Day on May 1.

Last week I had an opportunity to watch a tennis match at The Bishop’s School with coach Matt Copeland, as my guide. Before the match, he shared a little bit about himself and how high school tennis works.

The Santa Fe Christian High School girls softball team came to La Jolla looking for an upset win over La Jolla Country Day School on April 18, 2013. Unfortunately, they were looking in the wrong place as the La Jolla Country Day Torreys hammered the Santa Fe Christian Eagles 11-1. It was a very close game until the bottom of the fifth, where it really got away from Santa Fe Christian.

Francis Parker School had their hitting shoes on April 11, 2013 when they rolled over The Bishop’s School, 10-1, in a girls softball game played at Bishop’s field. The teams were just not evenly matched and it was apparent from the very beginning.

The boys of La Jolla High’s Vikings baseball team will be hitting the field at 1 p.m. Friday, April 19 against Point Loma High School — oh, and the field will be the San Diego Padres’ PETCO Park.

La Jolla High School’s girls varsity water polo close fast against Coronado to advance to CIF finals

On a chilly Feb. 19, 2013 at Coggan Aquatic Complex, La Jolla High School faced off against Coronado High for the third time this season in girls water polo — this time for the honor of playing The Bishop’s School in the CIF finals on Feb. 23. Each team had won by a single goal in the opponent’s pool, with the Coronado Islanders taking the second game just two weeks earlier on a last second shot in the second overtime period.

La Jolla Country Day Torreys girls basketball team took apart the Holtville High School Vikings in a Quarter Final pairing of the CIF playoffs on Feb. 23, 2013 in La Jolla. All 10 players on the Torreys team got just about equal playing time, scoring almost at will.
