Moms run the show in Mother’s Day tradition at LJYB

Every year on Mother’s Day weekend, the Moms of LJYB run the show and from the reports, the dads might learn a thing or two about having fun and winning games. Shetland and Pinto is where the revolution takes place, and some of the make coaches didn’t look terribly comfortable squirming in the stands while the kids took instructions from their new mentors.

May is the new October for La Jolla Youth Baseball

October is when everything happens in Major League Baseball. Some of us remember Reggie Jackson as “Mr. October.” In La Jolla Youth Baseball, May is the new October. Lineups are less fluid, ace pitchers extend their outings, exciting one-run games are common.

LJYB back in the swing of things

La Jolla Youth Baseball spent the last week dusting off some cobwebs from Spring Break, but a lot of home runs were recorded too, so some kids went to the batting cages over the break. Hopefully MLB will approve the Padres new TV deal so we can watch them.

The fact remains that the herd thins after Pinto, with year-round programs popping up everywhere and sports such as lacrosse and water polo taking off in Southern California. LJYB is cognizant of the excellent choices available to kids and works hard to keep players engaged and enthusiastic about baseball at each division.
