La Jolla Vikings fall to league champs, 3-1

The La Jolla’s girls volleyball team gets caught in the rotors of the San Dieguito Mustang Avocado League champs, losing 3-1 in the first round of the CIF playoffs Nov. 13.

Registration opens for 2014 La Jolla Youth Baseball season

Registration is underway for La Jolla Youth Baseball’s 2014 season. Since 1952, LJYB has been helping kids learn the game and develop the skills needed to play. LJYB’s goal is to provide organized recreational baseball played in a healthy, competitive spirit with an emphasis on skill development, teamwork and sportsmanship.

Lacrosse training for beginners to start Oct. 27

It’s been an eventful season for the La Jolla Pop Warner Torrey Mighty Mites. For the first time in the history of the La Jolla Pop Warner Football League, the Torrey Mighty Mites, boys ages 8-10, went undefeated.

With just over seven minutes remaining, La Jolla High School trailing 22-21 in its own Homecoming game, LJHS strong side linebacker Tyler Smith noticed that Coronado’s running back was focused on fellow Viking linebacker Bret Schuman, the outside linebackers blitzing.

First Team All-Americans: Water polo brings two La Jolla girls fame, friendship

It’s been a great month for freshmen Georgia Gilmore at the Bishop’s School and Karli Canale at La Jolla High: on Sept. 4, through their membership with the San Diego Shores water polo club, they were named to the USA Water Polo Association 2013 Junior Olympics First Team All-American for age 14 and under teams, a recognition given to the top seven players in each division.

La Jolla High School Football: Vikings amp up spread offense, but need stops on defense

Jason Carter and his merry band of coaches in the “new” era of La Jolla High football have their chargers putting up points in the spread offense at an unprecedented rate. Opponents are seen gasping for air after repeated, bang-bang plays as the Vikings come to the line of scrimmage without a huddle.

San Diego Surf Soccer Club’s Girls Academy II U10 team won the 2013 Santa Barbara Cup. The team had an amazing weekend, Aug. 24-25, going undefeated in four games.

La Jolla High girls’ sports season opens on a high note

Several La Jolla High school girls’ sports had their first match-ups over the weekend, which proved to be a beneficial learning experience for the Lady Vikings.
