Shane Pauker, Jamie Abrams (giving directions), Colin Schmidt, Chris Pomeranke, Matthew Alessio, Greg Feiner and Austin Benham work as a team as they finalize the installation of the new helmet and bat rack. The guys received community service hours for their work on Abram’s Eagle Scout Project at La Jolla Youth Baseball’s Pony field in Cliffridge Park.

As LJYB gears up for its 61st season, a core group of volunteer board members are canvassing the parents of recent registrants, seeking help with coaching teams, serving as team parents, and raising funds for equipment and field support. With older facilities that are owned by the City of San Diego, there are endless maintenance and repair projects, not to mention the upkeep of some of the most beautiful baseball diamonds in the region.
Last month LJYB was the lucky recipient of Jamie Abrams’ time, talent and treasure. Abrams and his merry band of Troop 4 Boy Scouts, descended upon the Pony field like a well-oiled machine. Two years ago, Abrams was a star player on the field, only this time he was on a mission to complete his Eagle Scout Project.
