The Bishop’s School midfielder Alarisse Lam and her Lady Knights teammates kept bringing the ball from midfield (or even closer) like a relentless wave toward the La Jolla High Vikings’ goal, pushing the attack to keep pressure on the visiting Vikings April 21.

Riley Young and Bridget Odmark stood center stage during a recent sand volleyball contest. They (along with the few parents, coaches, teammates and passersby propped on the Mission Beach seawall and splayed on the sand around the court) knew it all came down to the final of three pairings against Scripps Ranch High School left to be completed.

There must be something in the water, or maybe the kids are eating their Wheaties … all we know is more home runs were hit after spring break in the La Jolla Youth Baseball (LJYB) than were hit in the first month of the season.

La Jolla Youth Baseball poised for second half of season

La Jolla Youth Baseball players Jake Bold and Nathan Latimer exchange congratulations following their Mustang game. Jake’s team Qualcomm may have defeated Nathan’s team RAK, but the highlight of the day was Nathan’s home run over the left field fence. It was the first of the season at LJYB.

Though unofficial, La Jolla Youth Baseball (LJYB) has two halves to its season. Between Opening Day and spring break, most of the coaches focus on development and moving players around as much as possible.
