On Saturday, players from 68 teams around the county turned out for the Second Annual Recreational All Star Tournament. The La Jolla YMCA gymnastics team will hold a Gymnastics Clinic and Open House on Saturday at the La Jolla YMCA starting at 11:30 a.m. Participants will learn gymnastics skills such as stunts, choreography, vault/mini-trampoline and tumbling. Proceeds from the event will go toward helping to fund the team’s 2011 trip to Switzerland for the World Gymnaestrada.
More than 125 youngsters gave it their all on Sunday at La Jolla Shores in the annual Menehune & Junior Surf Contest. The event has been a WindanSea Surf Club tradition since the early 1960s, growing from a roster of 44 contestants to its current size, with competition in both shortboard and longboard divisions, according to age.
