Kenny Loggins rocks at concert gala in La Jolla to benefit Promises2Kids

Grammy winning singer/songwriter Kenny Loggins was the guest performer at the sixth annual “Dream On” concert gala June 9, 2014 at the hilltop home of La Jolla philanthropist Joan Waitt. A benefit for Promises2Kids, the event featured a cocktail reception, live and silent auctions, dinner and music after sunset.

Guests at the La Jolla Town Council’s May 16 SunSetter mixer at La Jolla Community Center perused works on display from the Allied Artists Association of San Diego and enjoyed music from The Preservationists Dixieland jazz band at Mission Bay High School, as well as music from pianist Susie Schick and San Diego Opera tenor Alexis Alfaro.

The inaugural Paws & Pints fundraiser, held at La Jolla Brewing Co. May 15, 2014 garnered about $7,000 for Friends of County Animal Shelters (FOCAS). The proceeds were donated in the name of Peggy Howell, a FOCAS co-founder who passed away in 2013.

Live and silent auctions to benefit Scripps Cancer Center patient support services took place May 8, 2014 at the Hyatt Regency La Jolla at Aventine with the 23rd annual “Spinoff Went Hollywood” fundraiser. The event also featured cocktails, dinner and entertainment. Teresa and Randy Cundiff served as co-chairs and the event’s honorary chair was actress Marion Ross, best known for her role as “Mrs. C” on the TV series “Happy Days.”

The 33rd annual UC San Diego Moores Cancer Center Gala, “Spark!” took place April 26 at the Hyatt Regency La Jolla at Aventine to raise funds for the Hospital for Cancer Care at Jacobs Medical Center, opening in 2016. The evening featured a cocktail reception, dinner and performance by R&B singer Heather Headley, followed by dancing.

Voices for Children’s President’s Circle donors came together for a cocktail party at the La Jolla home of VFC board member Jill Skrezyna and her husband Alex Sun. The guest speakers were Juvenile Court Judge Carol Isackson and her daughter, Amy, who for the past two years has served as a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) volunteer.

The Village Garden Club of La Jolla presented its 12th annual “Expressions in Art and Flowers” event and featured 38 botanical arrangements by club members who drew their inspiration from 38 works of art created by artists in the club.

Silent, live and wine auctions took center stage April 12 at Anchor’s Aweigh!, the annual fundraiser for The Bishop’s School’s student financial aid and faculty professional growth programs. Guests arrived on campus to enjoy hors d’oeuvres, dinner and an after-party with dancing by Jay Sterling Music. The benefit was co-chaired by Dawn Calvetti, Alice Hayes and Margot Kerr.
