Foodies get a taste of California at The Lodge’s annual festival

The eighth annual Celebrate the Craft food and wine festival, which showcases regionally grown ingredients and innovative cooking and winemaking, was hosted by The Lodge at Torrey Pines on Oct. 31. Growers, vintners, and culinary artisans from some of California’s most renowned farms, bakeries, wineries, and confectioners were on hand to share their skill and enthusiasm

Delicias Restaurant in Rancho Santa Fe hosted the San Diego Rescue Mission (SDRM) on Sept. 28 to celebrate the mission’s 55th anniversary.

The eighth annual Celebrate the Craft Food and Wine festival at The Lodge at Torrey Pines runs 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m, Oct. 31. Tickets are $75 per person at, where there is also a list of participants and a schedule of events

October 31: This year, it’s not just Halloween. It’s also the date of one of SoCal’s finest food and wine happenings, the eighth annual “Celebrate the Craft” event at The Lodge at Torrey Pines.

Chefs host dinner for ailing fellow chef

Local chefs have taken a stand to support fellow San Diegan chef Timothy Gutmann of Poseidon Restaurant in Del Mar in his fight against cancer.
Gutmann has battled Crohn’s disease for 16 years, with the last year-and-a-half especially draining due to his development of T-cell lymphoblastic lymphoma.

Alexandria Boswell of La Jolla wins Foster Farms cooking contest

Alexandria Boswell will cook chicken beginning at 5 p.m. Sept. 24 at La Jolla Cove for the Tri Club of San Diego's season-ending potluck dinner. Boswell will host a contest for the best potluck dish at the party. There will be prizes.

Alexandria Boswell has won the first-ever Foster Farms West Coast Chicken Cooking Contest in a heated Final Cook Off held today at the Culinary Institute of America at Greystone, in California’s Napa Valley. Boswell and her Spinach Stuffed Chicken Breasts dish beat out more than 2,000 recipes to win the $10,000 grand prize and a one-year supply of Foster Farms fresh chicken.
