The airport-based PGA Tour Grill concept seems to be taking off. Since May 9, the new golf-themed restaurant chain (a partnership between HMSHost and the PGA Tour) has opened in three cities, with several more planned through 2015.

The Walkers recently welcomed a new addition into their family of restaurants. Following in his father’s footsteps, Richard Walker, Jr. opened a Richard Walker’s Pancake House in May in La Jolla.

Award-winning Chef William Bradley — one of only 160 chefs in the world and 17 in the United States to receive the designation of Grand Chef from Relais & Châteaux — is the executive chef and director of Addison, the signature-dining venue at The Grand Del Mar. Bradley recently lent his talent to another eatery operated by the resort: Bijou French Bistro in La Jolla. The new restaurant, which opened June 27 at 1205 Prospect St. (formerly the site of Amaya La Jolla), features classic French bistro fare.

After 20 years in business, the Solana Beach Fish House continues to reel in customers. Locals embrace the family-owned-and-operated eatery, with its laid-back atmosphere, cold pints of beer and fresh seafood.

Solana Beach Fish House Curry Sauce

INGREDIENTS 1 ounce minced garlic 2 ounces chopped onion 2 ounces chopped tomatoes 2 ounces chopped cilantro 1 ounce chopped jalapeño (optional) Dash of vinegar Pinch of salt Pinch of pepper 1 ounce curry powder Method: Saute all ingredients in a pan on medium heat until cooked.

For Café Merlot owners Toni and Rick Kraft, using culinary medicine in their restaurant’s recipes makes perfect “scents.” Toni Kraft said food is key to health and wellness, and that smells trigger people’s emotions. She appeals to guests’ senses by incorporating edible flowers, herbs and produce grown in the restaurant’s onsite micro-farm into the fare, along with culinary grade essential oils.
