
A bevvy of Hollywood stars walked the red carpet Thursday night, Sept. 27, at the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego in La Jolla for the San Diego Film Festival’s tribute to filmmaker Gus Van Sant (“Milk,” “To Die For,” “My Own Private Idaho”).

A primary component of SDFF’s growth strategy is the addition of La Jolla as a venue for several of its top screenings, including “Quartet,” actor Dustin Hoffman’s directorial debut.

La Jolla surfboard shaper Tim Bessell is keeping Warhol’s spirit alive through a series of five boards he designed for the Andy Warhol Foundation.

The Athenaeum Music and Arts Library is ready to roll on its sixth annual “Flicks on the Bricks,” open-air film and wine series.

La Jolla High School is about to host its first film festival, thanks to senior and aspiring filmmaker Julian Clark. The event will be held Friday, May 11 at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium and is open to the public.

Filmmaker Pierce Kavanaugh, who grew up in La Jolla, said he received his first camera when he was 13 years old, a gift to his father that was re-purposed as his own.
