The newly formed UCSD Alumni Book Club will discuss "The Last Patriot" by Brad Thor from 6 to 7 p.m. Nov. 4 at Porter's Pub on campus.
The club was created to focus on current and emerging issues, both domestic and international, that aren't being covered by the media. Books are selected from a government's list, and although largely fiction, club members say they are strikingly more factual than the government and media lead one to believe.
Meetings are free and open to the public in a casual environment where all are urged to participate. Occasionally, experts will be invited to facilitate deeper discussion and provide additional insight.
The club meets the first Wednesday of each month. For more details, contact Lauren McCombs at lmccombs@ucsd.edu. For a synopsis of the books, see www.alumni.ucsd.edu/bookclub.
