Most of us love coffee shops, but often want more than just coffee. We want drink choices, but also an option to order food. The Living Room Cafe in La Jolla, which is half cool coffeehouse and half delicious bistro, gives you both.
The Living Room, which has been around for 19 years, is cozy, but lively with indoor and outdoor seating - and killer views of both Prospect Street (for people watching) and the ocean. The staff is super-friendly, and the food is fresh and delicious.
"Our food is eclectic. We have food from every region of the world. It's made fresh daily, and nothing on the menu is over 10 bucks," owner Sam Azzu said. "We do change the menu to accommodate tastes of customers. Right now, we have a lot of vegetarian and healthy choices."
The drink menu is packed with coffee (hot and cold) and tea drinks, and the dessert menu is so extensive - more than 30 choices of tarts and cakes - that you might just have to order two (like I did).
The Living Room Cafe in La Jolla is open from 6 a.m. to midnight daily. It offers breakfast, lunch and dinner. After 6 p.m., the second floor opens - the space offers a full bar and hookah.
For great food, good people and a unique coffeehouse and cafe atmosphere, visit Living Room Cafe at 1010 Prospect St., call (619) 322-0977 or go to www.livingroomcafe.com.
Cloisters of La Jolla
While receiving care - either short- or long-term - it is important to be close to the ones you love. Cloisters of La Jolla makes that possible.
Cloisters of La Jolla is family-owned and operated by Kennon Shea and Associates - they have been providing health care to San Diego families for more than 40 years, and provide 24/7 personal care and professional nursing services to those who need medical, rehabilitation or recreational therapy.
"Long-term care includes custodial, dementia and end-of-life care. Short-term stays are available for post-hospital and post-operative care to assist in a successful and healthy transition to home," administrator Terry Quigley said.
The Cloisters team also works with residents to create an individualized care plan. Quigley added: "Cloisters prides itself on individualized and person-centered care, including physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, massage, healing touch and life-enhancing activities, intergenerational programs and recreational therapies. We believe that care should be provided in the best way that meets the patient and family needs and goals, with a loving and respectful approach."
Located on a quiet residential street, The Cloisters has private, semiprivate and companion three-bed accommodations. Resident rooms have been recently remodeled and offer bedside flat-screen televisions as well homey touches such as spa robes. The community welcomes families and friends as partners in care. Cloisters offers open visiting hours to ensure that residents and families can enjoy a meal together or time on the enclosed patios.
