Eastham leaving Burnham Institute Karin Eastham, who joined the Burnham Institute for Medical Research more than four years ago as executive vice president and chief operating officer, has resigned to pursue other interests.
Her departure will be effective Sept. 30, according to a press release from the institute, which is focused on identifying the molecular causes of disease and finding innovative therapies.
Eastham was instrumental in establishing the institute's center in Orlando, which is operating in temporary facilities while a permanent center is built, said spokeswoman Shannon Lovejoy.
In addition to helping in site evaluation, she also played an integral part in contract negotiations, she added.
Prior to joining the Burnham Institute, she served as senior vice president and chief financial officer at Diversa Corp., where she led the company's initial public offering.
