Skeptics might have a field day with a title such as The Silva UltraMind ESP System Seminar.
But business coach and management consultant Justin Gittelman, who is sponsoring the two-day workshop said, "Over the last 50 years, this program has spread to over 30 countries and the UltraMind method has been utilized by over 5 million people."
Developed by Jose Silva, this system teaches specific methods for identifying goals, eliminating self-defeating behavior and developing strategies to achieve personal and professional success.
Those methods include creative imaging, positive visualization and a technique to access alpha wave consciousness, the same level reached through meditation. Individuals who attend the course will learn, practice and use the techniques.
Gittelman, a certified trainer and facilitator who studied with Silva's nephew Sam Silva, described the process as a way to incorporate mental, physical and emotional strengths, such as intuition.
The 33-year-old La Jolla entrepreneur founded his company, Gittelman Group, after 10 years in the sales and marketing industry. He accumulated expertise through stints with The Anthony Robbins Companies, The Center for Leadership Studies, Trainingscape. Linkage, Clear Channel Communications, Homes.com and One Coach.
A native San Diegan, Gittelman spent several years on the East Coast before returning to Southern California in 2003.
Engaged to be married in July, Gittelman occupies his free time with yoga, tennis, golf, kickboxing, reading and spending time with his parents, sister and brother-in-law. However, he said, business is never far from his mind, and he is continually researching new ideas for clients.
Gittelman Group offers a variety of consulting services, including training and coaching, to small business owners and entrepreneurs.
"I like having a positive impact in people's lives," Gittelman said.
The foundation of Gittelman's philosophy is that success and fulfillment come from identifying one's aim in life, an answer that can only be found with introspection and focus.
A second but equally important component of Gittelman's philosophy is the importance of service - making the world a better place.
"The law of reciprocity says if we give, we shall receive," Gittelman said. "Instead of (thinking) what I can take from a situation, what can I give?"
Having identified his own mission in life as helping others understand the power of the mind, Gittelman is excited to introduce the Silva concept.
"If you don't know where you're headed, you won't know where to go," he said. "My chief aim in life is to influence the development for millions of people to realize the power and strength of their mind's potential.
The $495 workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 17-18 at The Towers of Costa Verde clubhouse, 8775 Costa Verde Blvd. and is open to the public.
