Junior Lifeguards spend a day in La Jolla

San Diego Junior Lifeguards, in the midst of their month-long training, came to La Jolla at the end of June for some exercises in water safety. Although they primarily practice at Mission Bay and Mission Beach, the 9- to 17-year-old guards visit other beaches to experience different shoreline conditions. The junior lifeguards practice life-saving skills, first aid/CPR and swimming skills. The current session ends July 11, and the second session runs July 21 to Aug. 15.
