La Jolla Community Center’s jazz series going strong; next concert Friday, Feb. 28

Women in Jazz” was the theme of a recent “Fourth Friday Jazz Series featuring Lori Bell & Friends,” Jan. 24, 2014 at the La Jolla Community Center. Joining flutist Lori Bell were vocalist Allison Adams-Tucker, pianist Melonie Grinnell and bassist Evona Wascinski.

The next concert for “Fourth Friday Jazz Series featuring Lori Bell & Friends” will be themed, “Music of James Taylor” on Friday, Feb. 28. Lori Bell will be joined by guitarist, pianist and vocalist Ron Satterfield, along with percussionist Tommy Aros. They will perform original arrangements of James Taylor songs.

Other upcoming 2014 “Fourth Friday Jazz Series” concerts:
• Friday, March 28: Interplay Trio — Pianist Dave Mackay and guitarist/vocalist Ron Satterfield
• Friday, April 25: From Bach to Bebop — Chamber music and jazz with pianists Diane Snodegrass and Mikan Zlatkovich
• Friday, June 27: Pianist Mike Garson and bassist Bob Magnusson

Concerts are held at the La Jolla Community Center, 6811 La Jolla Blvd.

Doors open at 7 p.m., shows begin at 8 p.m.

Ticket includes appetizers and a glass of wine. Free valet parking is available.

Tickets at the door: $20 members, $25 non-members
